I’m no expert. I never claimed to be. When it comes to music, I tell you what I like and I stand behind it. Most time, I can tell you why I like it, why you’ll like it too, and what I think it sounds like before you go “spending money” (aka illegally downloading it…I know your kind).

Active Child has left me speechless-ish, no drama. You Are All I See, his first album, is quite possibly the most unique and all encompassing album I’ve indulged in, in a long while.  Like, I’m not lying…I literally felt gutted (in a good way…there is such a thing) when I listened to Grossi’s vocals. He’s like a goddam ginger angel.

I can’t quite place my finger on what moves my little music heart more (that’s that tender spot right above the real heart, but below the sternum, that pangs when you hear something that makes you feel emotive… not to get all sciencey). He’s combined seemingly incompatible ingredients …choir boy like vocals, a deep solid beat from some good ole fashion hip hop lovin’, and harpy strings….and done it in a strangely ethereal, romantic, and approachable way.

He’s toured with artists including dubstep producer James Blake, School of Seven Bells, and a personal favorite of mine, White Rabbits, which supports his versatililty in reaching a variety of music tastes.

Regardless of this of how this one man show takes a whole lot of everything we’ve heard and molds it into a whole lot of something we haven’t, it’s about time we get a fresh perspective. Thank God…cue the harps!
