I used to date a guy who told me that he lost all hope for humanity and that people are innately evil.

This I will never believe.
I believe when people say things like that they contribute to the darkness in the world, those who hate humanity and want you to believe there is no hope.

Never fall victim to the hopelessness and the faithless … this isn’t just about religion…this is about the religion of humanity. The true unfettered connection that we all share which is that we are all here sharing the same damn moment in time, we are all breathing and feeling, we are all connecting to something in our environment.

I hope that in the future we don’t forget that taking care of each other, the hearts and minds of others, the dreams of others, the beliefs of others are not just required during tragedy and death, but they are required throughout existence.

My thoughts and prayers extend to those who have suffered and I determine to make sure hope and humanity prevail.

Boston. Fucking horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, “Well, I’ve had it with humanity.”

But I was wrong. I don’t know what’s going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here’s what I DO know. If it’s one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we’re lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they’re pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We’d have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, “The good outnumber you, and we always will.”

New Pretty Lights feat. Talib Kweli

While I’m not really into the dubstep persuasion since I only own like two party tanks, none of which are neon or have my fraternity or sorority letters on it, I find that Pretty Lights made the right move hooking the older music listeners in with the likes of Talib Kweli, one of my personal favorites.

Go to his site and DL this tune for free…the dub is only like marginally annoying which is far more than I can say for The Lumineers music festival schedule.

Compliment Your Soul - Dan Croll

Back by popular demand, it’s me. I haven’t posted in YEARS (I think) and I can only blame myself (obviously). The list of reasons in no particular order include, but are not limited to:

- Moving to a new city (twice)

- 99 Problems and a Dude was one (if not all of them)

- Career changes

- General laziness…

I find that my first post back in a few years should be Dan Croll. He’s amazeballs….I called him the hipster Adam Levine to a friend, but that’s not really true, I basically just called him that so my friend would listen. Besides he’s SO much better than Adam Levine…

Croll, who is pretty enigmatic re: Google, is a British singer-songwriter and Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts grad (founded by Sir Paul McCartney). He is newish to the scene and released his first single “From Nowhere” in September 2012 and just released the little gem above April 1st of this year.

Sure BBC and Sir Paul think he’s the next big thing in music, but if you hear it from me, The Bandage…it’s a guarantee (even if he might be a Liverpool soccer fan.)

So I heard about The Machine Room via We Were Promised Jetpacks via Facebook.

Here’s a tip for you, after you hear a band you like, go “like” their page and sit back and reap the rewards. I find that when you are recommended music by your favorite indie bands on their Book page, you rarely lose.

The Machine Room is from Edinburgh, founded by John Bryden and some hip musicians from The Vivians and My Tiny Robots and have this ridiculously long and extended bio on their Book page…I’m not gonna tell you what you will find out later once you “Like” them.

It’s good effing music, people… from good effing music people. Recommended by me.
